Investigating the chemical environments in which planets may form
Hi! I am Milou Temmink, a PhD student in the group of Prof. dr. Ewine F. van Dishoeck at Leiden Observatory. I am also supervised by Dr. Nienke van der Marel and Dr. Alice. S. Booth. My research focuses on the chemistry in planet-forming disks, the disk consisting of gas and dust around newly formed stars that are the birthplaces of planets. In paritcular, I use observations from both ground- and space-based instruments, such as the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) and the Atacama Large (sub-)Millimeter Array (ALMA). Using these instruments, we can study the chemical enviroments of the innermost regions, where we expect the terrestrial planets form, and the outer disk, where the gas giants accrete their atmospheres.
